Description

Explore narrative and your own identity through stitch, guided by artist Louise Goult. You’ll create a personal hand embroidered piece of artwork that can be framed, wall-hung or be three-dimensional. The workshop will focus on using both traditional and more unusual materials (including papers, wood and found items) to express yourself and deepen your work. You will learn a selection of textile techniques to add interest and narrative to your piece, including layering, hand stitch, manipulation, deconstruction and reconstruction. With the group kept to a maximum of 6 participants, there will be plenty of one-to-one support to develop and create your unique artwork. All materials are included - however you’re also welcome to bring some small pieces to work with, such as snippets of fabric, words, found items or photos. This is not essential, as there will be plenty of materials provided. This workshop comes with a beautifully curated giftbox so that the creativity can continue after the workshop finishes. This is also an opportunity to be the first to see the Identity exhibition before it opens to the public. This workshop is suitable for beginners and people with embroidery experience (age 18+). The workshop is held at Bottleworks, 8 Riverside Walk, Newcastle, NE6 1LX from 6 - 8.30pm
